Founder / President & CEO

Raj M. Nichani, Esq.

Raj is the founder, president, and CEO of The RMN Agency, an award-winning legal recruiting team in Atlanta. A former securities litigator, Raj first launched The RMN Agency in 2010 as a solo legal recruiter to offer a more personalized, concierge experience to closely match legal talent to the right legal opportunities in Atlanta. Today, The RMN Agency is a cohesive team of eight passionate, mostly former legal professionals dedicated to advancing the interests and careers of associates and partners.

For the past eight years, Raj’s team has been recognized by the readers of ALM Law.com’s Daily Report as Atlanta’s Best Legal Recruiter earning “Hall of Fame” status for legal recruiting services. He’ll tell you the recognition is a testament to the team’s accessibility, dedication, client-focus, collective brain trust, and connections in the Atlanta legal community.

“We’re on a mission to help more lawyers find their dream jobs. When attorneys partner with our attorney-led recruiting team, they get more than the industry knowledge of one of us. They get the industry knowledge and support of all of us.”

A natural people leader, entrepreneur and talent cultivator, Raj supports the talent acquisition goals of employer clients. He leverages nearly three decades of legal industry experience and relationships with lawyers and employers in the legal community to champion the careers of legal professionals.

Lawyers are typically not their own clients. They hire specialists. I apply the same philosophy to legal recruiting. If you serve as your own recruiter, you may limit your search visibility and not reach far enough. We advocate for your interests, present you directly to employers, and prepare you for the entire job search journey.

Background

Previously, before opening the doors at The RMN Agency,  Raj served as vice president for two Atlanta legal recruiting firms. That early experience working for other recruiters combined with being recruited helped him reimagine a much more bespoke approach – a strategy that puts the candidate attorney and client first for his own agency.

As a BigLaw litigator, Raj practiced in New York City until the events of 9/11 nudged his return to Atlanta. In Atlanta, he practiced securities litigation for two BigLaw firms. Once he realized that he enjoyed nurturing client relationships and managing business relations more than litigating, he transitioned from practicing law to recruiting lawyers.

An Atlantan by way of Florida, Raj is active in the Atlanta community. When he’s not raising awareness or fundraising for pediatric genetic conditions, he’s advocating for a more inclusive legal community by participating in legal organizations, associations, and initiatives. He’s a member and a past president of both the Georgia Asian Pacific American Bar Association (GAPABA) and the South Asian Bar Association of Georgia (SABA-GA). He also is a member of the Georgia State Bar Association and the New York Bar Association.

Raj earned his law degree (cum laude with honors) from the Syracuse University College of Law, where he served as associate editor of the Syracuse Law Review and Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Law and Technology. He earned his bachelor’s degree in philosophy and history from Emory University. He credits his interest in law to his grandfather, a tax attorney, and his mom, who studied law. An avid fan of cars, Raj enjoys being outdoors and staying active with his daughters and wife who inspire him every day.

Raj’s Career Advice for Lawyers

“Do what you love,” says Raj. “If you wake up feeling restrained rather than inspired or motivated, explore a change. There are so many opportunities available to lawyers. I followed my own advice and pivoted from litigating to legal recruiting more than a decade ago. I love what I do. And I’m on a mission to help more attorneys love what they do.”
